Alice “Elsie” Edwards (1871 – 1932)
Alice “Elsie” Edwards came to the Mount Vernon Seminary in Washington, D.C., at the age of 12 in 1883. She was the niece of the founder of the Seminary in 1875, Mrs. Elizabeth Somers. She was one of the first editors of The Record; she was also a painter and a talented singer. Edwards graduated in 1893.
After leaving the Seminary, she studied both art and music in New York, and continued her art studies at the P (showing 500 of 1143 characters). |
