| Born in Lumberton, NJ on Feb. 2, 1880 into a Quaker farming family. Engle studied at the ASL of NYC shortly after the turn of the century and then established a studio and showcard shop there on 42nd Street with David B. Milne. During WWI he served in the Engineers Corps in France and painted scenes of that country in his leisure. Following the war, he worked for a poster company in Seattle. About 1920 he moved to California to work for a mining company in Darwin, but soon established a stud (showing 500 of 1160 characters). |
