This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A painter and illustrator, Anthony Euwer was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. He studied at Princeton University and the Art Students League in New York, and from 1911 to 1931 lived in Portland, Oregon, where was an illustrator for the "Spectator" and "Oregon Journal".

Subsequently he traveled to the Orient where he was influenced by Japanese art as well as the work of Aubrey Beardsley. In the late 1930s, he settled in Hollywood, California. He died in La Jolla on November 14, 1955.

The Salem (OR) Public Library has an original pastel by Anthony Henderson Euwer. We are currently raising funds for restoration of our collection. This piece will get some minor framing restoration. The book "Oregon Painters" (1855-1955) by Ginny Allen and Jody Klevit has a page of bio information on Euwer.
