This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Chrissie Elmore painted realist scenes of rural America, the West and the South in idealized often pastel colors. One of her paintings, "The Two Seminoles," hangs in the collection of the Tampa Bay Public Library.
She became a well-known artist of the Tampa Bay-St. Petersburg area, and her works hang in many public buildings and private collections in that region.
Elmore was born in 1902 in Downe Township, New Jersey. She lived much of her life with her husband on dredges in the Latin American region and in the states. She also taught school for a while in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. She died in Tampa-St. Petersburg in 1995. |
