| Born in Humboldt, KS on Dec. 25, 1879. Ellis studied at USC under Wm L. Judson, and with Wm M. Chase. He was on the staff at the College of Fine Arts at USC until 1913. He taught for 12 years at Kern County High School in Bakersfield and after 1925 taught arts and crafts in the public schools of Los Angeles. Ellis died there on Sept. 6, 1970.
