Craig Everhard is an American artist who was born in 1954. He studied at York Academy for the Arts and graduated in 1975 with an Associates Degree in Illustration. Everhard returned to school and pursued his Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Millersville University. Since graduating there in 1987, he has been a public and private art instructor. Craig enjoyed working as the Saturday Youth Program and Summer Youth Program Coordinator at the Pennsylvania School of Art & Design in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, from 1991 to 1995. He also taught a portraiture class in 1994.
Everhard worked at the Sight and Sound Theatres in Pennsylvania as the Charge Scenic Artist. He lead the finish and paint teams, and became an expert in faux finishes and paint treatments. For their 50' x 200' wrap-around stage, Craig designed the color and texture treatments and painted large scale backdrop sets and scenes that can still be seen on their stages and website. He has also been commissioned to restore damaged paintings as well as create murals for churches and theatres, as
he can successfully depict natural scenery. Additionally, he works as a commissioned portrait artist for people and animals.
In his artwork, Craig seems to communicate a sense of real-life mood and atmosphere through his detailed attention to shadows and highlights that realistically mirror his living subjects and natural landscapes. These along with his abstract paintings create a visual experience that make a
connection with the emotional side of the viewer, either by recreating a moment in time or sharing some deeper meaning that words could not express.
His artwork has been included in various group exhibitions, including the York Art Association Annual Juried Art Shows from 1982 to 1992 and the Lancaster Art Association Annual Juried Art Show in 2006. He held one-man exhibitions of his work at the Millersville University Student
Gallery in 1984 and the Mount Calvary Episcopal Church in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, in 1992. His various awards include a first place award from Millersville University for Painting and Composition in 1987, a first place award from Community Gallery of Lancaster Annual Juried Art Show in 1994 and various cash prizes.
Since 2005 Craig has been pursuing a full-time career in Fine Arts from his home studio, providing professional high quality work, pursuing the goal of excellence with the talents and abilities that God has given him.
Everhard resides in Landisville, Pennsylvania.
