| David Y. Ellinger was a Pennsylvania Dutch folk artist and antique dealer, who often painted on velvet and cloth rather than standard artists' canvas. Ellington died on March 24, 2003 at eighty-nine years of age. Paintings from his estate were sold at auction in Kimberton, Pennsylvania on June 7-8, 2003.
An avid auction-goer himself, Ellinger loved to talk about his work when attending such events. Interestingly, among the Ellinger paintings on sale was an auction scene painted many years ago.
