Known for pastel paintings ranging in size from large scale to miniature, Dawn Emerson's specialties are animals---chickens, buffalo, donkeys and especially horses. She says: "My heart starts beating faster when I see a horse moving. When I see that beautiful motion, I want do do something with that. . . .They tell stories in their eyes or in their exchange---in the tension between figures." (26)
Working occasionally from photographs, she also does human figure subjects.  (showing 500 of 1282 characters). |
