Biography from a third party submitted on 06/03/2006:
| Diane Eugster started her art career as a freelance illustrator, working for
magazine publishers and resort hotels. As computer technology became the trend
in advertising art she taught herself the latest programs in graphic arts. One
special honor was being featured in the publication Step by Step Electronic
Design, a cutting edge magazine for designers.
In September 1997, she decided
to leave the commercial art world behind and start painting full time in her
Las Vegas studio.
Diane soon discovered that painting from life would be an essential part of her
work. She may notice a certain attitude or expression in the model that sets
the tone for the painting. Other times the colors in the subject stimulate a
direction for her to take. It also provides her with the experience of
"drinking in the characteristics of the subject."
In her figurative work,
Diane enjoys the seemingly endless possibilities to experiment with design.
Currently teaching figure painting at the Las Vegas Art Museum as well as giving
private lessons in her home, Diane often travels to various areas in the western
United States to glean new material for her paintings. Diane is a member of the
Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society. |
