| Born in Norwood, Ontario, Florence Ellerhusen became a landscape painter. She studied and worked in New York City and painted near her home of Towaco, New Jersey. She studied with William Merritt Chase and John Vanderpoel in New York and with George Luks at the Art Institute of Chicago. She also studied at the Art Students League.
She married sculptor, Ulrich Henry Ellerhusen who taught at the National Academy. In Towaco, they established the Ellerhusen School of Painting and Sculpture where she taught painting. She exhibited at the Newark Musuem and also at the National Academy of Design.
