| Born in Chicago, IL on July 5, 1867 Estabrooks began her art studies at age 12. After two years of private study, she enrolled at the AIC followed by further study in New York and Boston. At 19 she opened a studio in Chicago where she gave lessons in genre and still life painting. While residing there she spent several winters in Los Angeles during 1904-09. In 1914 she settled in Berkeley, CA where she remained until her demise on Aug. 15, 1944. Her forte was still lifes of roses.
