The following information, submitted by Jennifer Dix, is from Who's Who in New York City, 1907:

Eaton, Hugh McD. Artist, publisher; b. Brooklyn, Jan 25, 1865, son of Asahel Knowlton and Marion McNeil Eaton; edited Polytechnic Institute, Brooklyn; student at Art Students’ League, NY City; married Brooklyn. Oct. 1896, Margaret L. Fernie. Art editor American Magazine at age of 20

General illustrator for several years; art editor Frank Leslie publications 8 years, followed for a short period of general. illustrations, and then, with wife, began publication of artistic productions at Valhall studio, Brooklyn.

Interested in development of artistic printing and the Handicraft movement.

13th regiment National Guard of New York.
Ye Handicrafters’ Soc. (v.-p.),
Philomathean Soc.,
Sexennial League.

Clubs: Broolyn Art (ex-mem.), Writers’, Salmagundi, Black and White (sec.). Recreation: Concert and opera music.
