| Pastel artist and writer John Elliot is the founder and former president of the Oil Pastel Association. He is also the founder and president of the International Oil Pastel Association. He was a past vice president of the Pastel Society of America and a juror and member of the Salmagundi Club and Society of Illustrators.
John Elliot's commissioned work includes paintings for Ronald Reagan, Katherine Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. His work is in many private and public collections including the Fogg Museum, the Metropolitan Museum, the Detroit Museum and the Kentucky Highlands Museum.
The artist has also written a book "Oil Pastel for the Serious Beginner" (Watson -Guptill, 2002) and has contributed to many art magazines including the Pastel Journal, Art News, and American Artist.
