Portrait, genre and landscape painter, Joseph Oriel Eaton studied in New York City but worked mainly in the Midwest. He was active in Indianapolis 1846-48; in Cincinnati, 1850, 1853, and 1857-60; and in New Orleans before 1857. During the latter part of his career he had his studio in New York City.
He received his early education in Ohio, and then studied for several months with Jacob Cox in Indianapolis before moving to Cincinnati at age seventeen and setting up a studio to get portrai (showing 500 of 1502 characters). |
