| A painter, illustrator and art educator, MIchael Engel, Sr. was born in Hungary and spent most of his career in New York City. He studied at Cooper Union School and was a founder of the Audubon Artists. He was also active in Pennsylvania in the Lancaster County Art Association and the Philadelphia Art Alliance.
Engle served as National Vice Chairman of National Art Week and was editor of the "Michelangelo Art News Letter" in 1965. He also lectured on the Old Masters and was an illustrator of children's books including "Three Centuries Delaware".
