Biography from Sullivan Goss - An American Gallery (Artists A-H):
Nick Edmonds creates abstract sculptures that often have themes of nature, balance, and space.

Born in 1937, Edmonds became interested in wood sculpture at a young age. Carving traditional figure sculptures out of salvaged logs, Edmonds was struck by the organic purity of wood. He soon learned the process of wood joinery in Japan when he was given a Fulbright grant. His work is has been recognized by the National Academy of Design on two occasions.

Edmonds views wood sculpture as a meditation on landscape. His oceanscapes, "Large Swimmer" and "Wave" are highly emotive, incorporating forces of nature and weather into each piece. At first glance, these constructs may seem chaotic; however, Edmonds' best sculptures evoke a sense of emotional and spiritual journey.

The artist has had his first major retrospective exhibition at Boston University.
