| | Born in Michigan. Eaton studied painting at age 12 but did not paint again for many years. He moved to southern California in 1910 and worked as a naval engineer, lumberjack, and a miner in the Mojave. An old man in 1925, he then resumed painting and continued into the early 1930s while living in a trailer. | Source: Edan Hughes, "Artists in California, 1786-1940" Brand Library (Glendale). | | Nearly 20,000 biographies can be found in Artists in California 1786-1940 by Edan Hughes and is available for sale ($150).
