Reif Erickson graduated with honors from Gonzaga University with a degree in art. He later continued his study of painting with Sergei Bongart whom he credits with encouraging him to paint en plein aire. Erickson now paints outside ninety percent of the time.

With his pastel landscapes Erickson seeks to capture locations in a new way. Erickson studies the landscape and searches for the unique, special quality of the place. He is pleased if a viewer who is familiar with the location pauses (showing 500 of 1054 characters).
