Eichelberger was born in 1861 in Ohio. He traveled to Munich as the second wave of Americans from the mid-West to study at the Royal Academy. He studied under Benzur, Geysio, and Professor Loefltz. Although it is not known when Eichelberger returned to live in America, by 1887 he was living in New York City and remained there until his death in 1890.
He won honorable mention at the Royal Academy of Munich in 1882 and 1884. He exhibited at the Society of Ameri (showing 500 of 917 characters).
