| Born in Los Angeles, Ruth Elliott was a landscape painter and graphic artist who remained in Southern California. She studied at the Los Angeles School of Art and Design, the University of California Los Angeles, the Otis Art Institute and with Millard Sheets.
She lived in Santa Monica until 1970 and then retired to Laguna Hills.
Married to Harry Elliott in 1913, she became a member of the California Art Club, the Laguna Beach Art Association, and the Women Painters of the West.
