Born in Sutton, Clay County, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Charles and Wilhemina Ebert. She was to live in Sutton nearly all her life. Miss Ebert studied art at the Lewis Institute in Chicago, a west-side college, established in 1895, that offered liberal arts as well as science and engineering, She also studied by correspondence course with Fireside Industries out of Adrian, Michigan.
