This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from the artist:

Susan Eddy was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan to parents who encouraged her interests in creativity and nature. Her father is an oil painter and both of her parents are avid naturalists. As a child, Susan and her sister often went on family vacations up north to hike in the woods, visit relatives in the Upper Peninsula, or to Mackinac Island. Not surprisingly, Susan went to college to study art and biology.

She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BFA in 1989 and a BS in 1997. Originally she was interested in biological illustration as a career but quickly realized that it was laboratory research she wanted to pursue. She continued to visit Mackinac Island, taking photographs and beginning to paint landscapes for her family and friends.

On a trip to the Island in 1995. Susan brought her first paintings to the Market Street Gallery for sale. These were framed miniatures, original watercolors that she had painted of the Grand Hotel and the Light House. They sold right a way, and ever since, she has been unable to meet the demand for these delightful fine art souvenirs of Mackinac Island.

Currently Susan is a toxicologist at a pharmaceutical company by day, and artist by night and weekend. She is married and has two painterly felines. Susan has exhibited in Ann Arbor galleries and in the Michigan Watercolor Annual Show. She is a member of the Ann Arbor Art Center.

She paints mostly from photographs, but loves to paint on location when she can. Watercolor landscapes are her specialty. Susan's paintings reflect her love of nature and her interest in Impressionism and Realism. Her colors are Mackinac Island colors: lilac, cerulean blue, emerald green, and especially the blue found on the ceiling of the Grand Hotel's porch.

She describes her style as painterly abstraction, somewhere in between realism and impressionism. Susan's favorite things to do on Mackinac Island include roller blading, hiking the trails, and watching the bridge lights come on from the West Bluff. She loves to wake up to the clip clop of horses and has vowed to stay at every Inn at least once.

Commissions include paintings of particular Mackinac Island cottages, the Stone Church, the Grand Hotel, the West Bluff, the Mackinac Bridge, and private cottages.
