This biography from the Archives of AskART:

"William Henry Earle, a painter and teacher, was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, July 12, 1928.  He studied at the Art Students League with Frank V. Dumond and Robert B. Flale, 1945-1949; at Grand Chaumier and Beaux Arts, Paris, 1950-1952; at the State University of New York and Southern Connecticut State University, 1977.  When he was 31, he painted nine war memorial murals for Harmon Hall at Norwich University in Connecticut, commissioned by President Harmon.  He also did some decorative murals commissioned by Mrs. B. Rockefeller, as well as some Indian murals at the Museum of Art and Science in Bridgeport, Conn.  He headed the department of art for the US State Department, 1952-1954.  He taught at several small schools.  In the 1980s he traveled around, primarily in the south and southwest, giving workshops and classes. He had a lasting effect on his students."
