| Born in San Francisco, CA on Sept. 10, 1876. Dewing was active in her native city from the turn of the century with art studies at the CSFA, ASL, and with Arthur Mathews, Gottardo Piazzoni, and Hans Hofmann. She wed Herbert Flemming about 1919, and was professor of art at San Francisco State Teachers College in 1938. She died in Wood Acre, CA on Sept. 26, 1970.
