This biography from the Archives of AskART:

The following information was submitted in October of 2006 by Tony Scott:

A Glendale, California resident and sculptor, Foerster was commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra to sculpt a bust of Beethoven in honor of William Clark, founder of the Orchestra. The sculpture is located in the Public Art Division of Cultural Arts Department. Foerster suggested the idea of an astronomical monument be erected and he, along with a handful of other sculptors designed and created the monument that now sits in front of the Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles.

Foerster was married to Willa Holt Wakefield, a well known New York singer as the turn of the century in 1915, they divorced in 1936.
