| Painter. Born in Brooklyn, NY on Oct. 21, 1867. Foster opted for an acting career rather than following his father's advice to settle into a dull job in commerce. While working in stock and melodrama in NYC, he began painting watercolors without the benefit of instruction. During WWI he served in the Canadian Army. He then settled in Los Angeles where he became active in the local art scene. He was one of the original members of the Potboilers Art Center (1922). After 1926 he was more active as (showing 500 of 873 characters). |
