|  Born in Germany on July 10, 1879. Fischer settled in San Francisco a few months after the earthquake of 1906. While working as a decorator and painter for Zelinsky & Sons, he made painting forays into Yosemite, the Sierra Nevada and other scenic spots. He died in San Francisco on Jan. 30, 1959. | Source:
