This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
A painter of religious subjects in late Gothic style, Defendente
Ferrari is not officially documented as to birth place because no
records have been found, but it is established that he is from Chivasso,
Italy. The only work known for sure to be by him is an altarpiece
for the town of Ranverso, completed in 1531. The period of his
greatest activity was 1500 to 1535.
Many unsigned paintings are attributed to him.
