Edgar Farasyn (b.1858 / d.1938)

Edgar Farasyn was born on August 14, 1858 in Antwerp, Belgium.

Farasyn studied under Nicaise de Keyser, at the Academy in Antwerp.  He became a professor at this academy in 1885.

In 1891, Farasyn promoted the Flemish influence on art by being a founding member of
“The XIII” as well as, a member of the group “Do You Himself.

He started by painting children scenes; however, Farasyn moved toward painting in the open air in 1885.  Farasyn painted urban scenes, landscapes, and village scenes.  He painted in places including Mol and Antwerp.  Between 1877 through 1983, Farasyn would visit his friend, Ernest Midy, and paint in the eastern region of Kempen in the southern part of Netherlands.  He regularly traveled to in the Netherlands such as, Scheveningen, Katwijik, Zuiderzee area and Zeeland.

In 1938, Farsasyn Died.
