| | Born in Council Bluffs, MO on Nov. 19, 1891. Forbes spent his boyhood in the Ozark Mountains. In 1918 he moved to southern California where he began painting landscapes of the mountains and desert around Palm Springs. His teachers were Emerson Lewis, Bennett Bradbury, and Wilton McCoy. He was a resident of Santa Ana, CA until his death on July 16, 1988.
