This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Los Angeles, CA on Feb. 23, 1901, Edward Farmer studied at Stanford University, Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design, Art Students League in New York City, and with George Bridgman, Charles Locke and Jan Matulka.

In 1923 he began teaching at Stanford and served as head of the graphic arts department during 1940-56.

He died in Los Angeles on Oct. 21, 1980.

Exhibitions:
San Francisco Art Association, 1931-36; Oakland Art Gallery, 1933; Pacific Art Association, 1930s; American Water Color Society, 1937-42; California State Fairs, 1938-40; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, 1938-41; Santa Cruz Art League, 1938; Golden Gate International Exposition, 1939.
