Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Ellen Fisher was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and moved to Brooklyn, New York as a child with her doctor father. There she married Edward Thornton Fisher in 1869.
She became known for her watercolor floral and foliage still lifes, and was primarily self-taught although she learned art techniques from her younger brother, Abbott Thayer, who studied at the Brooklyn Art School and the National Academy of Design.
She exhibited at the Brooklyn Art Asso (showing 500 of 1008 characters). |
