| | Born in Nebraska in 1880. Emma's parents were homesteaders on a farm where she grew up. In 1902 she married Edwin Freeman in Denver where she was working as a ribbon clerk. The Freemans soon settled in San Francisco where they operated a stationery shop on the corner of Octavia & Union. In her leisure Emma studied painting with Giuseppe Cadenasso. After the earthquake in 1906, they moved north to Eureka where they established the Freeman Art Company. Emma became a pupil there of painter Charles Harmon who often worked in that area. After 1910 she concentrated on photography which she hand-tinted. Mrs. Freeman died in San Francisco on March 27, 1928.
