George Frederick was born in Lee County, Iowa in 1889. At the
age of three, he moved with his parents to Europe, and Frederick grew
up in Germany, attending the Royal Academy of Art in Munich.
While at the Academy he studied interior design, and one of his
classmates was Adolf Hitler.
While growing up in Germany,
Frederick often read about the American West and developed a strong
desire to someday become a cowboy.
In 1911, Frederick’s dream
