| A painter, sculptor and painting instructor, Graydon Foulger is a native of Salt Lake City Utah. He studied art at Utah State University, the University of Utah and Brigham Young University, graduating from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1967. For two years, he studied in a Master of Fine Arts program and concurrently taught classes at Brigham Young University as a graduate assistant in art.
He was also an art student with the European Art Academy in europe in 1966, studying in the many museums, art galleries and studios throughout Europe. In Utah, he has studied with several teachers including Homer Clark, Ken Baxter, Franz Johansen, Alex Darais, J Roman Andrus, Bruce Smith, Glen Turner, Dan Baxter, Harrison Groutage, and Ed Maryon.
He has received private and public commissions including an historical scene for the permanent collection of the City of South Salt Lake, used in conjunction with their 50th year celebration in 1988.
Artist statements: I love painting 'en plein air', choosing my subjects spontaneously. . . .Art is a progressive path, and you only have a short time to catch the moment before the light changes.
With a partner, he opened an art gallery business, Tivoli Art Gallery, in Salt Lake City, utah. From 1968 to 1983, he was president and director of Said Gallery. |
