Dr. Hannah Frank, M.A., 23 August 1908 - 18 December 2008 Glasgow artist and sculptor
Studied at Glasgow University and the Glasgow School of Art
Exhibited in the Royal Glasgow Institute, the Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy. Glasgow School of Art Evening Class Prize (for Sorcery, 1929) Glasgow School of Art James McBey Prize for Wood Engraving published in the Glasgow University Magazine in the 1920s and 1930s.
Posthumous Honorary Doctorate, Glasgow University, June 2009. Posthumous Lord Provost’s Award for Art, Glasgow City Council, May 2009. Honorary Member, Glasgow Society of Women Artists. St Mungo’s Mirrorball Lifetime Achievement Award.
Hannah Frank’s drawings and sculpture are in the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Ben Uri London Jewish Museum of Art, Hunterian Gallery University of Glasgow, Peter Scott Gallery Lancaster University, Glasgow City Museums. Used the pen name ‘Al Aaraaf’ for some of her early drawings.
