| Hannah Fairfield is known to have been active in New York City from 1836 to 1839. From 1836 - 1839, she was at the National Academy where she studied under Alexander Robertson. Her earlier training was under Francis Alexander.
In 1839, she married Franklin Nichols who was a Norwich, Connecticut banker. She continued to paint some portraits after her marriage.
