This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A portrait painter who lived much of his life in Newington, Connecticut, Harry Farlow was also active in New York City and Chicago where he was born in 1882.  He studied there at the Art Institute of Chicago* from 1902 to 1904 and in 1906, when he also went to Cincinnati to study for three years at the Cincinnati Art Academy* with Frank Duveneck.  A brief return to the Chicago Institute for more study in 1909 was followed by enrollment at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts* as a student of Edmund Tarbell.

In Connecticut, he was a member of the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts in Hartford and the New Haven Paint and Clay Club*.  In New York City, he was a member of the MacDowell Club* and the Salmagundi Club*, and was an active exhibitor at the National Academy of Design* in 1922, 1923 and 1926.
