| Born in Benicia, CA on Dec. 8, 1856. “Harrie” Riddell’s parents had come to California with the Gold Rush and settled in Benicia when it was the state's capital. She graduated from Benicia's Young Ladies Seminary in 1872 and taught there in 1879-80. By the 1890s she was the wife of Frank W. Fish. On the family estate in Benicia she kept an assortment of exotic pets such as snakes, alligators, and peacocks. Mrs. Fish studied art in San Francisco at the School of Design and was active in the (showing 500 of 747 characters). |
