| Fowler was a prolific painter and an important figure in the Colorado
and Denver art societies of the early 20th century. She was a
co-founder of the Denver Artists Guild with other notable Denver
painters, and exhibited widely. She was noted for her landscapes and
usually preferred watercolors to oils.

| Irene D. Fowler was born in Illinois on Dec. 14, 1884. Fowler spent most of her career in Denver, Colorado where she taught in the public schools. However, she was active in San Diego in 1929. Unmarried, she died in Denver in May 1969.
