Jack "Herc" Ficklen (1911-1980)
Jack "Herc" Ficklen was born in Waco, Texas, and made his permanent residence in Dallas after graduating from Peacock Military Academy in 1930. Ficklen became interested in art at a young age and knew that if he were going to make a living as an artist, it would have to be with a newspaper.
He worked for six years as a copy boy for The Dallas Morning News, where he met famed cartoonist John Knott and became increasingly fascinated with t (showing 500 of 2015 characters). |
