The following is from Fred McCraw, Art Writer of Kansas City:
James L. Fitzgibbon (1864-1929) was born in the southwest of Ireland, (probably County Limerick or Cork) and died in Kansas City, Mo. His parents brought him and his siblings to America in the early 1880s, during the third great wave of Irish immigration spurred by a series of potato famines (1879 was the third of three that began in 1846). The family settled in St. Louis in 1884 and remained there until 1890.
