| Jane E. Foster was born in California in 1912. Foster grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Mills College in 1935. Her marriage to Dutch diplomat Alleendert Kamper in 1936 was short lived. She joined the Communist Party in 1938 and married George Ziatovski in 1943. Accused of spying for the Soviet Union, they were indited in 1957, but the case was never tried.
Exhibited: Oakland Art Gallery, 1934; San Francisco Women Artists, 1938; Golden Gate International Exposition, 1939; Courvoisier Gallery (San Francisco), 1940 (drawings of Bali and Java).
Works held: San Francisco Museum of Art; Oakland Museum; Mills College.
