| Born in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, Jim Forsberg became a painter of abstract landscape with heavy impasto and brilliant colors.
He studied at the Minneapolis School of Art, the St. Paul School of Art, the Art Students League in New York City and the Hans Hofmann School of Art. His work reflects the influence of Hofmann who painted in patches of color to suggest landscape subjects.
He became visual arts chairman of the fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
