Jon Francis was born and raised in Laguna Beach, California. Educated at the Art Center in Los Angeles, he studied painting under Lorser Feitelson. As an art director in New York and in San Francisco, he both painted and carved in wood before returning to a full-time painting career. He lives and works in Stinson Beach, northern California.
