Born in Utah on July 13, 1878, Louise Farnsworth grew up in Salt Lake City and first studied art with her cousin, Lee Greene Richards. She continued at the Art Students League of New York City and in Paris where she was influenced by the Fauves.
While a resident of Los Angeles in the 1930s, she made painting trips to the Sierras.
She died in Salt Lake City in May 1969.
