This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| A painter of abstraction, Margaret Fisher began her career as an economist and architect. In New York City, Alfred Steiglitz, photographer and gallery owner who promoted modernist art, encouraged Fisher to follow her passion. She enrolled in the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studed with Albin Polaske and at the Art Students League in New York City where her instructors included Boardman Robinson. She also attended summer schools in Gloucester and Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Indicative of her success were several prestigious solo exhibitions including the Art Institute of Chicago, 1975; Harvard University, 1973; and Musuem of Fine Arts in Houston in 1965. |
