Maria Frankenstein was one of the children of Gustav Ludwig
Frankenstein and a part of a family of German immigrant artists: John
Peter (circa 1816-1881), Godfrey N. (1820-1873), George, Gustavus (died
1902), Marie (1822-1900) and Eliza (1828-1919. The family arrived in
Cincinnati in 1831, and moved to Springfield, Ohio, in 1849.
She taught German in Cincinnati at a public school before moving to Springfield in 1849 with her brothers and sister. A sculptor as well as lands (showing 500 of 918 characters). |
