| Max Finkelstein was born in New York City in 1915. In the middle of the Depression, Finkelstein graduated from Baron De Hirsch Trade School and began working in machine shops. In 1954 he started sculpting which included multimedia modeling, carving, welding and constructions. By then he had moved to Los Angeles and studied at the California School of Art, Los Angeles City College, UCLA,and Kahn Art Institute. He currently lives in Los Angeles and at 95 is still active as an artist.
Exhibited: Fresno Art Center, 1964; Santa Barbara Museum, 1968.
Works held: Hirschhorn Museum (Washington, DC); Jewish Museum (New York City); UC Berkeley; Santa Barbara Museum; Honolulu Academy of Art; UCLA, Royce Hall; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; many others.
