| The following, submitted February 2004, is from Nancy Briggs Harris, niece of the artist.
Nancy Fay, 1893 -1930, was born in Homer, New York and was named Mabel Augusta Briggs, but she took the name of "Nancy".from a popular song of the time, "The Legend of the Nancy Brig".
She married Clark Fay and painted as Nancy Fay. They were both best known as magazine illustrators.
Clark and Nancy Fay lived in Westport, Connecticut and spent quite a bit of time in France. They were friends and contemporaries of F. Scott Fitzgerald. They had three sons.
